Retatrutide is an investigational synthetic peptide that acts as an agonist at three distinct G protein-coupled receptors. It combines activity at the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor, the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor, and the glucagon receptor within a single molecule. This multi-receptor profile distinguishes it from earlier incretin-based compounds that engage one or two of these pathways. Researchers designed the molecule to test whether simultaneous activation produces greater metabolic effects than single or dual agonism alone.
The peptide backbone is chemically modified to resist rapid enzymatic breakdown in the body. A fatty acid side chain promotes binding to serum albumin, which slows renal clearance and supports an extended circulation time. These modifications allow less frequent administration than would be possible with an unmodified peptide. The precise contribution of glucagon receptor activation to the overall metabolic effect remains an area of active investigation, because glucagon raises glucose while also increasing energy expenditure.

Several questions remain unresolved. It is not yet known whether the compound reduces cardiovascular events or mortality, because outcome studies require long follow-up. The durability of weight reduction after treatment withdrawal is uncertain, and rebound has been observed with other incretin-based therapies. Long-term safety data covering several years are limited. Effects in adolescents, in pregnancy, and in people with significant kidney or liver impairment have not been characterized in published reports.
Randomized studies of retatrutide measure change in body weight as a percentage of baseline, along with absolute weight loss. Glycemic endpoints include hemoglobin A1c and fasting plasma glucose. Investigators also track blood pressure, lipid fractions, and liver fat content to characterize effects beyond weight alone. Trial designs typically use double-blind, placebo-controlled groups with periodic dose escalation, and they record adverse events throughout both treatment and follow-up periods.
== Domestic impact == Psychiatrist Thomas Szasz wrote in 1997, "Over the past thirty years, we have replaced the medical-political persecution of illegal sex users ('perverts' and 'psychopaths') with the even more ferocious medical-political persecution of illegal drug users." Assessing from a health perspective, a study in the Annals of Medicine noted: "The U.S. war on drugs has subjected millions to criminalization, incarceration, and lifelong criminal records, disrupting or altogether eliminating their access to adequate resources and supports to live healthy lives."
A Penning trap stores charged particles using a strong homogeneous axial magnetic field to confine particles radially and a quadrupole electric field to confine the particles axially. Penning traps are well suited for measurements of the properties of ions and stable charged subatomic particles. Precision studies of the electron magnetic moment by Dehmelt and others are an important topic in modern physics. Penning traps can be used in quantum computation and quantum information processing and are used at CERN to store antimatter. Penning traps form the basis of Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry for determining the mass-to-charge ratio of ions.
pyridaben – a NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase mitochondrial complex 1 (MC-1) inhibitor fluorine-18, bound to the ethoxy moiety, that binds to biologically active mitochondria in the myocardium The radioactive signal is proportional to the blood flow; therefore, healthy tissue is more radioactive than infarcted one. It is partially selective towards the left ventricle over the right ventricle. Moreover, mitochondrial uptake of the drug is dependent on mitochondrial membrane potential, which explains its mechanism of action.
Whenever possible Canadian soldiers were supplied with fresh food, and each company, battery, or squadron had its own cookhouse. During lulls in the fighting freshly cooked meals would be brought by vehicle from cookhouses, which were well behind the lines, to soldiers at the front. Canadian soldiers were likewise provided with 14-man composite or "compo" rations for times when they could not be supplied with fresh food. The Australian Army likewise established kitchens and issued rations to frontline troops. Australian rations were initially based around bully beef and biscuits. However, the New Guinea campaign posed special problems for feeding troops on the front line. Due to the harsh terrain it proved difficult to supply food and other critical items to Australian soldiers fighting there, and as a result airdrops were adopted but these too were not always adequate, meaning that Australian soldiers were often hungry. The typical rations were also inadequate for fighting in the environment of New Guinea, and soldiers began experiencing various health problems due to nutritional deficiency. As a result, the Australian Army upgraded its basic ration of tinned meat, salt, biscuits, tea, sugar, and dried milk to new rations that added various items such as tinned fruit, dried potatoes, sausage, vegetables, jam, butter, and beans. In addition, dehydrated mutton was a popular ration, and wheat porridge and Tasmanian blue peas were incorporated into rations. The Australian Army Catering Corps was established in 1943.

=== Gas fill === Most modern bulbs are filled with an inert gas to reduce evaporation of the filament and prevent its oxidation. The gas is at a pressure of about 70 kPa (0.7 atm). The gas reduces evaporation of the filament, but the fill must be chosen carefully to avoid introducing significant heat losses. For these properties, chemical inertness and high atomic or molecular weight is desirable. The presence of gas keeps the tungsten below its vapor pressure, allowing it to be operated at higher temperature without reducing its life (or, for operating at the same temperature, prolongs the filament life). On the other hand, the presence of the gas leads to heat loss from the filament—and therefore efficiency loss due to reduced incandescence—by heat conduction and heat convection. Early lamps used only a vacuum to protect the filament from oxygen. The vacuum increases evaporation of the filament but eliminates two modes of heat loss. Some small modern lamps use vacuum as well. The most commonly used fills are:
On July 6, 2025, furious that their Acting Grand Master had been arrested, dozens of members of the High Chamber held a large protest in front of the National Masonic Temple in rejection of Filema Duarte's authority to call any session of the High Chamber. The session had been scheduled to occur later that day. However, when they tried to enter the building, the Tyler was joined by three Freemasons who sided with Filema Duarte – Jesús Martínez Frómeta, Raúl Pérez Martín and Rolando Céspedes Mena – who refused the protesters entry to the building. The two sides pushed and shoved. The protestors cried and shouted for Filema Duarte to exit the building, and he did come down to try and meet with them. But Former Grand Master Ernesto Zamora Fernández then, in a video which appeared on Zamora Fernández's Facebook profile, was seen leading a chant of "Out, traitor! Get out!" Filema Duarte retreated back into his office, with the Freemasons still shouting at him that he was a traitor to the Brotherhood and a puppet of the Cuban government. Filema Duarte issued a statement that he had cancelled the session of the High Chamber, in which he also stated that he would not be stepping aside as Grand Master. On Facebook, Zamora Fernández wrote: "This is the face of the dictatorship dressed as the Grand Master of the Cuban Masons, his name: Maikel Filema. He is worse than Agent Collera Vento. Dismissed by the Masons, he clings to power with the support of the government... Your betrayal, your lack of civility, your lack of morality, your ignorance. Your baseness, your lack of ethics.
Themed core specialties (A&E, Intensive Therapy Unit [ITU] and anaesthetics) Surgical specialties Medical specialties Psychiatry Run-through specialties (e.g., general practice, clinical radiology, pathology, paediatrics) The first four categories all run on a similar structure: the Trainee first completes a two-year structured and broad-based core training programme in that field (e.g., core medical training), which makes them eligible for competitive entry into an associated specialty training scheme (e.g., gastroenterology if core medical training has been completed). The Core training years are referred to as CT1 and CT2, and the specialist years are ST3 onwards until completing training. Core training and the first year or two of speciality training are equivalent to the old Senior House Officer jobs. It is customary for trainees in these areas to sit their Membership examinations (e.g., Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS)) in order to progress and compete for designated sub-specialty training programmes that attract a national training number as specialty training year 3 (ST3) and beyond – up to ST9 depending on the particular training specialty. In the fifth category, the trainee immediately starts specialty training (ST1 instead of CT1) progressing up to Consultant level without break or further competitive application process (run-through training).
Diphenoxylate (Lomotil, R-1132) is a centrally active opioid drug of the phenylpiperidine series that is used as a combination drug, prescribed in the United States under the trade name Lomotil, with atropine for the treatment of diarrhea. Diphenoxylate is an opioid and acts by slowing intestinal contractions; the atropine is present to prevent drug abuse and overdose. It should not be given to children due to the risk that they will stop breathing and should not be used in people with Clostridioides difficile infection.
di-β-phenylisopropylamine also known by the abbreviations DPIA or DPEA, or N,N-Di-β-phenylisopropylamine, and also under the code name Iem-1365, it is a central nervous system stimulant but, above all, a serotonergic agent that also exhibits adrenergic activity; it has been shown to cause central nervous system effects and toxicity similar to those of amphetamine. DPIA is a secondary amine; structurally, the molecule can be described as comprising a single central amine, to which two isopropyl chains with benzene rings at their ends are attached symmetrically on either side.

In practise, it is used synonymously with eluate, but the term more precisely refers to the stream independent of separation taking place. Eluite – a more precise term for solute or analyte. It is a sample component leaving the chromatographic column. Eluotropic series – a list of solvents ranked according to their eluting power. Immobilized phase – a stationary phase that is immobilized on the support particles, or on the inner wall of the column tubing. Mobile phase – the phase that moves in a definite direction. It may be a liquid (LC and capillary electrochromatography, CEC), a gas (GC), or a supercritical fluid (supercritical-fluid chromatography, SFC). The mobile phase consists of the sample being separated/analyzed and the solvent that moves the sample through the column. In the case of HPLC the mobile phase consists of a non-polar solvent(s) such as hexane in normal phase or a polar solvent such as methanol in reverse phase chromatography and the sample being separated. The mobile phase moves through the chromatography column (the stationary phase) where the sample interacts with the stationary phase and is separated. Preparative chromatography – the use of chromatography to purify sufficient quantities of a substance for further use, rather than analysis. Retention time – the characteristic time it takes for a particular analyte to pass through the system (from the column inlet to the detector) under set conditions. See also: Kovats' retention index Sample – the matter analyzed in chromatography.

It details potential threats stemming from misuse, malfunction, and societal disruption, with the objective of informing policy through evidence-based findings, without providing specific recommendations. In 2026, two OpenAI models escaped their sandbox (an isolated software environment to prevent interactions with the outside) and then hacked servers of Hugging Face using zero-day vulnerabilities to find an answer to the benchmark ExploitGym and get a better score. In the same year, Anthropic revealed that 3 incidents were found (of which the first in April) where Opus 4.7, Mythos 5, and an internal research test model compromised the infrastructure of three different unnamed organizations using basic techniques. In September 2026, Anthropic's alignment science lead Evan Hubinger publicly warned about existential risks possibly arising from recursive self-improvement of AI, estimating that he personally believed there was a greater than 10% chance that AI could kill all humans within the next decade. His comments followed the resignation of former Anthropic and OpenAI researcher Jacob Coxon, who criticised both companies for pursuing self-improving superintelligence without adequate safeguards. The warnings prompted calls for greater international cooperation, including a proposal by former UK Cabinet Office minister Darren Jones for a multinational treaty on the safe development of superintelligence. Later that month, Anthropic`s CEO Dario Amodei committed to granting embedded evaluators employee-level access to review new AI models.
This diagram represents the biosynthetic and metabolic pathways by which phytocannabinoids (e.g., CBD, THC, CBN) are created in the cannabis plant. Starting with CBG-A, the acidic forms of certain phytocannabinoids are generated via enzymatic conversion. From there, decarboxylation (i.e., catalyzed by combustion or heat) yields the most well-known metabolites present in the cannabis plant. CBN is unique in that it does not arise from a pre-existing acidic form, but rather is generated through the oxidation of THC. CBN is unique among phytocannabinoids in that its biosynthetic pathway involves conversion directly from Δ9-THC, rather than from an acidic precursor form of CBN (e.g., Δ9-THC arises through decarboxylation of THC-A). CBN can be found in trace amounts in the Cannabis plant, found mostly in cannabis that is aged and stored, allowing for CBN formation through the oxidation of the cannabis plant's main psychoactive and intoxicating chemical, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This process of oxidation occurs via exposure to heat, oxygen, and/or light. Although reports are limited, CBN-A has also been measured at very low levels in the cannabis plant, thought to have formed via hydrolyzation of THC-A (see Phytocannabinoid Biosynthesis diagram, below).

Retatrutide is an investigational synthetic peptide that activates three metabolic receptors: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon. It is being studied for obesity and type 2 diabetes. It has not been approved for clinical use.
Earlier incretin therapies engage one or two receptors. Retatrutide adds glucagon receptor activity, which may raise energy expenditure. Whether this produces larger clinical benefits is still being tested.
It has completed phase 2 trials and moved into later-stage evaluation. No regulator has granted approval. Access outside research settings is not authorized.
